Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer

Currently, we are seeking a qualified candidate for a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer opening to join our Fall River, MA Operations organization. The Candidate will handle the monitoring and maintenance of technical aspects of the manufacturing processes, looking at a variety of metrics gathered throughout the manufacturing process.

Overall in this role you will be providing project management and technical expertise for delivering collaborative manufacturing and assembly solutions in a fast paced environment. Also, you'll be leading change across the organization. For this role you will identify and develop innovative manufacturing and automation solutions in a collaborative environment, responsible for strategic roadmap to integrate manufacturing processes through project management of new and existing equipment, lead the development of production equipment to meet evolving customer needs, and ensure all engineering tasks are on budget, on time and meet the project scope of work.

This job function conducts the production activities of manufacturing organizations to optimize resource use, minimize costs and maintain quality standards. Activities include planning, managing and reviewing production operations to achieve output and quality objectives; monitoring expenditures and forecasting resource inputs; and operating, monitoring and maintaining machines and production equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. .
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Maintains product and process database by entering data.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Work closely with process and industrial engineer peers on the parent improvement projects that drive production needs
  • Support technicians with advanced problem-solving and skill training
  • Work effectively with your peers to share knowledge and leverage strengths
  • Utilize excellent communication and documentation skills to transfer critical process and support knowledge to others
  • Ability to travel and meet with equipment suppliers and other Whirlpool facilities
  • Work with minimal supervision


Minimum Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in Six Sigma techniques and tools for process improvement.
  • 5+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Develop mechanical design concepts using solid modeling with PT Creo Design software.
  • Proficient in GD&T.


Preferred Requirements
  • Robotic and vision system experience
  • Networks, TCP/IP experience
  • Knowledge of NEC, ANSI, and OSHA standards.
  • Familiarity with computer programming languages a plus
  • Strong knowledge of lean principles and the ability to apply them in order to establish and/or improve processes
  • Excellent planning, project management and leadership, presentation and communication skills
  • Outstanding people skills, with the ability to lead teams without a direct reporting relationship
  • 6-Sigma training/certification preferred
  • Strong communication skills allowing you the ability to work across multiple shifts.
  • Change Management training.
