This role in summary

Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for Senior Analyst, Quality Assurance. This role will be based in Clyde, OH.

A Supplier Quality Engineer drives the manufacturing site supply base toward operational excellence by developing their ability to improve product and service quality performances through the application of effective preventive and problem-solving tools and techniques. The SQE position is responsible for the plant's suppliers' performance by ensuring their compliance with our raw material designs implementing supplier audits, asking for corrective actions when required, providing follow-up on first part approvals (PPAP), and working with the Procurement department to ensure correct development of Suppliers. Duties also include assisting the department leadership team with essential functions and daily activities, as required. Will report directly to the Supplier Quality Engineering group. Must be available for all shifts.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Ensure that all components necessary for the manufacture of the product meet the design specifications through the PPAP approval process
  • Provide Rapid Response diagnostic services and initiate appropriate actions to address supplier-related assembly line issues
  • Determine the approval or rejection of components considering their impact on the process and/or operation of the product
  • Establish the time necessary for temporary concessions or approvals of components, as well as ensure that suppliers comply with the design characteristics of the parts
  • Create and provide follow-up with suppliers on 8D reports and Controlled Shipping process, reviewing the effectivity of the implemented containment and corrective actions and having communication with our affected areas (production, logistics, Global Product Organization)
  • Manage the return material authorizations procedure (RMA) and make sure this process keeps its finance compliance with SOX, this implies having control on the material kept in quarantine, material rejected from warehouses and production lines
  • Create and execute supplier audit process based on supplier's performance and their component's criticality
  • Identify quality improvement opportunities and drive problem-solving with appropriate cross-functional teams( kaizen).
  • Supervise Engineer Technicians and give direction on corrective action, communications with suppliers, and containment/rework implementation
  • Advise and develop the necessary strategies to reduce customer field complaints
  • Support the Plant strategies, methodologies, and initiatives, related to Supplier Quality

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 1+ years of Leadership experience managing quality associates

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with administrative and leadership responsibilities
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical commodity components as motors, compressors, pumps, and in general components used in the refrigeration category
  • Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Experience in APQP (Advance Preventative Quality Plan) and PPAP approval processes
  • Experience auditing manufacturing and quality processes
  • Experience in using statistical tools
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and Adept at the use of Google Suite; Sheets, Docs, and Slides
  • Blueprint and GD&;;;T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) experience or training preferred.
  • Able to use advanced shop mathematics, read highly complicated drawings, use a variety of measuring devices, and use of specialized training
  • All required WCM (World Class Manufacturing) Quality Tool Certifications, particularly 8D Problem Solving and Kaizen methodology
